Voluntary Charity – Recommending to Prefer Parents, Then Relatives, Then Those Closest in Charity
Hadith 3339
أَخْبَرَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ حِبَّانَ أَبُو جَابِرٍ ، بِالْمَوْصِلِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحِيَى بْنِ فَيَّاضٍ الزِّمَّانِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الأَنْصَارِيُّ ، عَنْ عَزْرَةَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، أَنَّ رَجُلا مِنْ بَنِي عُذْرَةَ أَعْتَقَ مَمْلُوكًا لَهُ عَنْ دُبُرٍ مِنْهُ ، فَبَعَثَ إِلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَبَاعَهُ ، وَدَفَعَ إِلَيْهِ ثَمَنَهُ ، وَقَالَ : " ابْدَأْ بِنَفْسِكَ ، فَتَصَدَّقْ عَلَيْهَا ، ثُمَّ عَلَى أَبَوَيْكَ ، ثُمَّ عَلَى قَرَابَتِكَ ، ثُمَّ هَكَذَا ، ثُمَّ هَكَذَا " .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man from Banu Udhrah freed his slave as a Mudabbar. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called for him, sold him, and handed over his price to that man. Then he said: Begin with yourself, spend on yourself, then on your parents, then on your close relatives, then like this and like this.
