Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I, Sayyiduna Imam Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Imam Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him), and Sayyiduna Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with them both) went out on the day of Eid al-Fitr. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) also proceeded towards the Eid prayer ground. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led us in prayer, then while delivering the sermon, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O people! This is the day of giving charity, so give charity and alms. The narrator says: So someone took off his ring, someone took off his garment (i.e., an extra sheet). Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) kept collecting them, until when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw that there was no one left who had anything to give, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) moved towards the women and said: O group of women, this is the day of giving charity, so give charity. So some woman took off her necklace, some took off her ring, some took off her anklets. Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) kept collecting them, until when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) observed that there was no one left to give, Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) returned and we also returned.
