Chapter: Warning Against Withholding Zakat – Clarifying That Hoarded Wealth Will Be a Source of Distress on Judgment Day
Hadith 3258
أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ بْنِ وَرْدَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا اللَّيْثُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلانَ ، عَنِ الْقَعْقَاعِ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " يَكُونُ كَنْزُ أَحَدِكُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ شُجَاعًا أَقْرَعَ ، يَتْبَعُ صَاحِبَهُ وَهُوَ يَتَعَوَّذُ مِنْهُ ، فَلا يَزَالُ يَتْبَعُهُ حَتَّى يُلْقِمَهُ أُصْبُعَهُ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him): "The treasure of one of you will come on the Day of Resurrection in the form of a bald snake. It will follow its owner, and the owner will try to escape from it, but it will keep following him, until he puts his fingers into its mouth."
