Chapter: Warning Against Withholding Zakat – Description of the Punishment for Not Paying Zakat on the Day of Judgment
Hadith 3253
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيَّبِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا زِيَادُ بْنُ يَحِيَى الْحَسَّانِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُهَيْلُ بْنُ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَا مِنْ عَبْدٍ لَهُ مَالٌ لا يُؤَدِّي زَكَاتَهُ إِلا جَمَعَ اللَّهُ لَهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ يُحْمَى عَلَيْهِ صَفَائِحُ مِنْ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ ، يُكُوَى بِهَا جَبِينُهُ وَظَهْرُهُ ، حَتَّى يَقْضِيَ اللَّهُ بَيْنَ عِبَادِهِ فِي يَوْمٍ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُ خَمْسِينَ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ مِمَّا تَعُدُّونَ ، ثُمَّ يَرَى سَبِيلَهُ إِمَّا إِلَى جُنَّةٍ وَإِمَّا إِلَى نَارٍ ، وَمَا مِنْ صَاحِبِ إِبِلٍ لا يُؤَدِّي زَكَاتَهَا إِلا بُطِحَ لَهَا بِقَاعٍ قَرْقَرٍ أَوْفَرَ مَا كَانَتْ تَسِيرُ عَلَيْهِ ، كُلَمَا مَضَى عَلَيْهِ أُخْرَاهَا ، رُدَّتْ عَلَيْهِ أُولاهَا ، حَتَّى يَحْكُمَ اللَّهُ بَيْنَ عِبَادِهِ فِي يَوْمٍ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُ خَمْسِينَ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ ، ثُمَّ يَرَى سَبِيلَهُ إِمَّا إِلَى جُنَّةٍ وَإِمَّا إِلَى نَارٍ ، وَمَا مِنْ صَاحِبِ غَنَمٍ لا يُؤَدِّي زَكَاتَهَا إِلا بُطِحَ لَهَا بِقَاعٍ قَرْقَرٍ كَأَوْفَرِ مَا كَانَتْ ، فَتَطَؤُهُ بِأَظْلافِهَا ، وَتَنْطَحُهُ بِقُرُونِهَا ، لَيْسَ فِيهَا عَقْصَاءُ وَلا جَلْحَاءُ ، كُلَمَا مَضَتْ عَلَيْهِ أُخْرَاهَا ، رُدَّتْ عَلَيْهِ أُولاهَا ، حَتَّى يَحْكُمَ اللَّهُ بَيْنَ عِبَادِهِ فِي يَوْمٍ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُ خَمْسِينَ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ ، ثُمَّ يَرَى سَبِيلَهُ إِمَّا إِلَى جُنَّةٍ وَإِمَّا إِلَى نَارٍ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever possesses wealth and does not pay its zakat, Allah Almighty will gather his wealth for him on the Day of Resurrection and it will be heated in the fire of Hell and made into plates, with which his forehead and back will be branded. This will continue until Allah decides among His servants on a day whose length is fifty thousand years according to your reckoning. Then after that, the person will see his path, either towards Paradise or towards Hell. And whoever does not pay the zakat of his camels, he will be thrown in an open field before the camels, and the camels will be fatter than before. The camels will trample over him, and when the last one passes over him, the first will return to him, and this will continue until Allah decides among His servants on a day whose length is fifty thousand years. Then the person will see his path, either towards Paradise or towards Hell. Whoever owns goats and does not pay their zakat, he will be thrown in an open field before those goats, and the goats will be fatter than before. They will trample him with their hooves and gore him with their horns. There will be no goat among them with crooked horns or without horns. When the last of them passes over him, the first will return to him, and this will continue until Allah decides among His servants on a day whose length is fifty thousand years. Then the person will see his path, either towards Paradise or towards Hell."
