Chapter: Greed and Its Related Matters – On How Allah Created the Elderly with Increased Greed for This Fleeting World
Hadith 3230
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَرَفَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ إِدْرِيسَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " قَلْبُ الْكَبِيرِ شَابَ عَلَى حُبِّ اثْنَتَيْنِ : عَلَى حُبِّ الْحَيَاةِ ، وَحُبِّ الْمَالِ " ، قَالَ ابْنُ عَرَفَةَ : وَأَنَا وَاحِدٌ مِنْهُمْ .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The heart of an elderly person remains young in two things: in the love of life and in the love of wealth." The narrator named Ibn 'Urfah says: I am also among those people.
