Chapter on earning wealth lawfully and related matters – Conditions for blessing in wealth
Hadith 3215
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفِيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا تَمِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْتَصِرِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ الأَزْرَقُ ، عَنْ شَرِيكٍ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّ الدُّنِيَا خَضِرَةٌ حُلُوَةٌ ، فَمَنْ أَعْطَيْنَاهُ مِنْهَا شَيْئًا بِطِيبِ نَفْسٍ مِنَّا ، وَحَسَنِ طُعْمَةٍ مِنْهُ ، مِنْ غَيْرِ شَرِهِ نَفْسٍ ، بُورِكَ لَهُ فِيهِ ، وَمَنْ أَعْطَيْنَاهُ مِنْهَا شَيْئًا بِغَيْرِ طِيبِ نَفْسٍ مِنَّا ، وَحَسَنِ طُعْمَةٍ مِنْهُ ، وَإِشْرَافِ نَفْسٍ ، كَانَ غَيْرَ مُبَارَكٍ لَهُ فِيهِ " .
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates this saying of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him): Indeed, the world is lush and sweet. If we give something from it with our own pleasure and without the greed of the receiver, and there is no evil of the soul in it, then there will be blessing in that thing for the person. But if we give it without our own pleasure and the receiver's greed is also involved, then there will be no blessing in it for him.
