Chapter on earning wealth lawfully and related matters – The reason the Prophet made this statement
Hadith 3214
أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ الْمِنْهَالِ الضَّرِيرُ ، حَدَّثَنَا هُدْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الْقَيْسِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَا يَسُرُّنِي أَنَّ أُحُدًا لِي ذَهَبًا يَأْتِي عَلَيَّ ثَلاثٌ ، وَعِنْدِي مِنْهُ دِينَارٌ غَيْرَ شَيْءٍ أَرْصُدُهُ فِي دَيْنٍ عَلَيَّ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard Sayyiduna Abu al-Qasim (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying this: "I do not like that I should have gold equal to the mountain of Uhud with me, and then after three days, even a single dinar remains with me, except that which I have kept aside for the repayment of a debt."
