Chapter on prayer inside the Kaaba – Ibn Abbas’s denial that the Prophet prayed inside the Kaaba
Hadith 3207
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ فَرُّوخٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَطَاءٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " دَخَلَ الْكَعْبَةَ وَفِيهَا سِتُّ سَوَارٍ ، فَقَامَ عِنْدَ كُلِّ سَارِيَةٍ وَدَعَا وَلَمْ يُصَلِّ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) entered the Ka'bah. There were six pillars inside it. The Prophet (peace be upon him) stood by each pillar and supplicated. There, the Prophet (peace be upon him) did not perform prayer.
