Chapter on prayer inside the Kaaba – Description of the Prophet’s standing between the pillars during prayer
Hadith 3204
أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَخَلَ الْكَعْبَةَ هُوَ وَأُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، وَعُثْمَانُ بْنُ طَلْحَةَ ، وَبِلالُ بْنُ رَبَاحٍ مَعَهُ ، فَأَغْلَقَهَا عَلَيْهِ وَمَكَثَ فِيهَا ، قَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ : فَسَأَلْتُ بِلالا حِينَ خَرَجَ ، أَيْنَ صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالَ : " جَعَلَ عَمُودًا عَنْ يَسَارِهِ ، وَعَمُودَيْنِ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ ، وَثَلاثَةَ أَعْمِدَةٍ وَرَاءَهُ " ، وَكَانَ الْبَيْتُ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَلَى سِتَّةِ أَعْمِدَةٍ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), Sayyiduna Usama bin Zaid, Sayyiduna Uthman bin Talha (may Allah be pleased with him), and Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) entered the Ka'bah, and they closed the door and stayed inside. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: When the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) came out, I asked Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him): Where did the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) perform the prayer? He replied: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) placed one pillar to his left, two pillars to his right, and three pillars behind him. (The narrator states:) In those days, there were six pillars inside the Ka'bah.
