Section on martyrs – A narration apparently contradicting the narration of Jabir ibn Abdullah
Hadith 3198
أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ حَمَّادِ زُغْبَةَ ، فَقَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا اللَّيْثُ ، عَنْ يَزِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْخَيْرِ ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، خَرَجَ يَوْمًا فَصَلَّى عَلَى أَهْلِ أُحُدٍ صَلاتَهُ عَلَى الْمَيِّتِ ، ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ إِلَى الْمِنْبَرِ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنِّي فَرَطٌ لَكُمْ ، وَأَنَا شَهِيدٌ عَلَيْكُمْ ، وَإِنِّي وَاللَّهِ لأَنْظُرُ إِلَى حَوْضِي الآنَ ، وَإِنِّي قَدْ أُعْطِيتُ مَفَاتِيحَ خَزَائِنِ الأَرْضِ ، أَوْ مَفَاتِيحَ الأَرْضِ ، وَاللَّهِ مَا أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْ تُشْرِكُوا بَعْدِي ، وَلَكِنِّي أَخَافُ أَنْ تَتَنَافَسُوا فِيهَا " .
Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: One day the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) went out and performed prayer over the martyrs of Uhud just as he would perform the funeral prayer. Then he proceeded towards the pulpit and said: I am your predecessor, I am your witness. By Allah! I am seeing my Hawd (cistern) at this very moment. I have been given the keys to the treasures of the earth (the narrator is in doubt, perhaps these are the words) the keys to the earth have been given to me. By Allah! I do not fear that you will commit shirk after me, but I fear that you will become inclined towards the world.
