Section on martyrs – Allah grants the reward of martyrdom to those who sincerely ask for it, even if they die in bed
Hadith 3191
أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ الْخَلالُ ، حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ ثَوْبَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ ، عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ مُرَّةَ ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ يَخَامِرَ السَّكْسَكِيِّ ، أَنَّ مُعَاذَ بْنَ جَبَلٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ جُرِحَ جُرْحًا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ، جَاءَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ رِيحُهُ كَرِيحِ الْمِسْكِ ، لَوْنُهُ لَوْنَ الزَّعْفَرَانِ ، عَلَيْهِ طَابَعُ الشُّهَدَاءِ ، وَمَنْ سَأَلَ اللَّهَ الشَّهَادَةَ مُخْلِصًا ، أَعْطَاهُ اللَّهُ أَجْرَ شَهِيدٍ ، وَإِنَّ مَاتَ عَلَى فِرَاشِهِ " .
Sayyiduna Mu’adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Whoever is wounded in the way of Allah, when he comes on the Day of Resurrection, its fragrance will be like the fragrance of musk and its color will be like the color of saffron. Upon it will be the seal of the martyrs. And whoever sincerely asks Allah Almighty for martyrdom, Allah Almighty grants him the reward of a martyr, even if that person dies on his bed.”
