Hadith 3181
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ الأَنْصَارِيُّ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ : لَمَّا كَانَ مَرَضُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، ذَكَرَ بَعْضُ نِسَائِهِ كَنِيسَةً رَأَيَاهَا بِأَرْضِ الْحَبَشَةِ ، وَكَانَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ ، وَأُمُّ حَبِيبَةَ قَدْ أَتَتَا أَرْضَ الْحَبَشَةِ ، فَذَكَرْنَ كَنِيسَةً رَأَيْنَهَا بِأَرْضِ الْحَبَشَةِ يُقَالُ لَهَا مَارِيَةُ ، وَذَكَرْنَ مِنْ حُسْنِهَا وَتَصَاوِيرَ فِيهَا ، فَرَفَعَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأْسَهُ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنَّ أُولَئِكَ إِذَا مَاتَ مِنْهُمُ الرَّجُلُ الصَّالِحُ بَنَوْا عَلَى قَبْرِهِ مَسْجِدًا ، ثُمَّ صَوَّرُوا فِيهِ تِلْكَ الصُّوَرَ ، وَأُولَئِكَ شِرَارُ الْخَلْقِ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى " .
Lady Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: When the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) fell ill, one of his wives mentioned a church which she had seen in the land of Abyssinia. Lady Umm Salama (may Allah be pleased with her) and Lady Umm Habiba (may Allah be pleased with her) had gone to Abyssinia; they mentioned a church which they had seen in the land of Abyssinia, whose name was Maria. They described the beauty of this church and the pictures that were in it. Upon this, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his blessed head and said: It was their custom that when a righteous man among them died, they would build a mosque over his grave and then place his pictures in it. These people are the worst of creatures in the sight of Allah Almighty.
