Hadith 3141
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا رِبْعِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " ثَلاثٌ مِنْ عَمَلِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ لا يَتْرُكُهُنَّ أَهْلُ الإِسْلامِ : النِّيَاحَةُ ، وَالاسْتِسْقَاءُ بِالأَنْوَاءِ ، وَالتَّعَايُرُ " ، رِبْعِيٌّ هُوَ أَخُو إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ عُلَيَّةَ .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Three practices are from the actions of the Age of Ignorance which the people of Islam have not abandoned: wailing (over the dead), expecting rain to fall because of the stars, and taunting one another." Rubayyi is the brother of Isma'il ibn 'Ulayyah.
