Section on the state of the dead in the grave – Animals hear the sounds of those punished in their graves
Hadith 3125
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، عَنْ أُمِّ مُبَشِّرٍ ، قَالَتْ : دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَأَنَا فِي حَائِطٍ مِنْ حَوَائِطِ بَنِي النَّجَّارِ ، فِيهِ قُبُورٌ مِنْهُمْ ، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ : " اسْتَعِيذُوا بِاللَّهِ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ " فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، وَلِلْقَبْرِ عَذَابٌ ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ ، وَإِنَّهُمْ لَيُعَذَّبُونَ فِي قُبُورِهِمْ تَسْمَعُهُ الْبَهَائِمُ " .
Sayyida Umm Mubashir (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) came to me while I was in a garden of Banu Najjar in which there were some graves of theirs. The Prophet (peace be upon him) was saying: Seek refuge with Allah from the punishment of the grave. I asked: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! Will there be punishment in the grave? The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Yes, people are punished in their graves, which even animals hear.
