Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “The son of Adam has three friends. As for one friend, he says: Whatever you spend, you will be rewarded for it, and whatever you do not spend, you will get nothing for it. This is his wealth. One friend says: I am with you, but when you come to the door of the King (i.e., the True Creator), (meaning when you die), I will leave you and return. These are his family and status. And one friend says: I am with you; wherever you enter and wherever you exit, I am with you. This is his deeds. So that person says: Among these three, you were the least significant in my eyes.”
