Hadith 3025
أَخْبَرَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى بْنِ مُجَاشِعٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ حِسَابٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : مُرَّ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، بِجِنَازَةٍ ، فَأُثْنِيَ عَلَيْهَا خَيْرًا ، فَقَالَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " وَجَبَتْ " ، ثُمَّ مُرَّ عَلَيْهِ بِجِنَازَةٍ ، فَأُثْنِيَ عَلَيْهَا شَرًّا فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " وَجَبَتْ " فَقِيلَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، قُلْتَ لِهَذَا : " وَجَبَتْ " وَقُلْتَ لِهَذَا : " وَجَبَتْ ؟ " فَقَالَ : " شَهَادَةُ الْقَوْمِ ، وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ شُهَدَاءُ اللَّهِ فِي الأَرْضِ " .
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A funeral passed by the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and good was spoken of it, so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "It has become obligatory." Then another funeral passed by him and evil was spoken of it, so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "It has become obligatory." It was asked, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)! You said 'It has become obligatory' for this one and for that one as well." So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Because of the testimony of the people (I said so); the believers are Allah's witnesses on the earth."
