Section on death and related matters: comfort of the believer, glad tidings, soul, deeds, and praise – Clarifying that “leave him” refers to not mentioning his faults, not his virtues
Hadith 3020
أَخْبَرَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى بْنِ مُجَاشِعٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلاءِ بْنِ كُرَيْبٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ أَبِي أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اذْكُرُوا مَحَاسِنَ مَوْتَاكُمْ وَكُفُّوا عَنْ مَسَاوِئِهِمْ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Mention the good qualities of your deceased and refrain from (mentioning) their faults."
