Hadith 3007
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَرُوبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي أُنَيْسَةَ ، عَنْ وَهْبِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ ، عَنْ مَعْبَدِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : كُنَّا جُلُوسًا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، إِذْ طَلَعَتْ جَنَازَةٌ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مُسْتَرِيحٌ وَمُسْتَرَاحٌ مِنْهُ " ، قُلْنَا : مَا يَسْتَرِيحُ وَيُسْتَرَاحُ مِنْهُ ؟ فَقَالَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الْمُؤْمِنُ يَمُوتُ وَيَسْتَرِيحُ مِنْ أَوْصَابِ الدُّنْيَا وَبَلائِهَا وَمُصِيبَاتِهَا ، وَالْكَافِرُ يَمُوتُ فَيَسْتَرِيحُ مِنْهُ الْعِبَادُ وَالْبِلادُ وَالشَّجَرُ وَالدَّوَابُّ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We were sitting with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) when a funeral passed by. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Either he has found relief or relief has been found from him. We asked: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! How has he found relief or how has relief been found from him? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When a believer passes away, he finds relief from the hardships, worries, and troubles of the world. And when a disbeliever passes away, people, cities, trees, and animals find relief from him.
