The Sick and Related Matters - What to say for protection when afflicted with illness
Hadith 2963
أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ " أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا اشْتَكَى ، قَرَأَ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ بِالْمُعَوِّذَاتِ ، وَيَنْفُثُ ، فَلَمَّا اشْتَدَّ وَجَعُهُ كُنْتُ أَقْرَأُ عَلَيْهِ وَأَمْسَحُ عَنْهُ بِيَدِهِ رَجَاءَ بَرَكَتِهَا " .
Sayyidah Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: When the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) would become ill, he would recite the Mu'awwidhat and blow over himself. When his illness intensified, I began to recite and blow over him, and I would pass his blessed hand over him, hoping for the blessing of his blessed hand.
