Hadith 2951
It is narrated about Sayyiduna Amr ibn al-As (may Allah be pleased with him): Once, when the plague spread in Syria, Sayyiduna Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "This is filth," so people began to move away from that place. Then Sayyiduna Shurahbil ibn Hasanah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I have been with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and Amr is more misguided than his household donkey (the narrator is in doubt, perhaps these are the words) or his household camel. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said this: 'This is a mercy from your Lord, the supplication of your Prophet, and a means of death for the righteous people before you. So you all should stay together for it and do not scatter, leaving it.'" When Sayyiduna Amr ibn al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) heard this, he said: "He has spoken the truth."
