Hadith 2950
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا تَعُدُّونَ الرَّقُوبَ فِيكُمْ ؟ " قَالَ : قُلْنَا : الَّذِي لا يُولَدُ لَهُ ، قَالَ : " لَيْسَ ذَلِكَ بِالرَّقُوبِ ، وَلَكِنِ الَّذِي لا يُقَدِّمُ مِنْ وَلَدِهِ شَيْئًا " ، قَالَ : " فَمَا تَعُدُّونَ الصُّرَعَةَ فِيكُمْ ؟ " قُلْنَا : الَّذِي لا يَصْرَعُهُ الرِّجَالُ ، قَالَ : " لَيْسَ ذَاكَ ، وَلَكِنِ الَّذِي يَمْلِكُ نَفْسَهُ عِنْدَ الْغَضَبِ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "How do you consider 'Raqoob' among yourselves?" The narrator says: We submitted: The person who has no children. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: He is not 'Raqoob', rather 'Raqoob' is the one whose none of his children have died. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Whom do you consider a wrestler among yourselves? We submitted: The one whom no one can defeat. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: He is not that, rather (the wrestler is) the one who controls himself at the time of anger."
