Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "A child was born to me last night, and I have named him Ibrahim after my forefather." (The narrator states:) Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entrusted him to the wife of a goldsmith in Madinah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went to her; when he reached Abu Saif's house, he was kindling a fire in his furnace at that time. The whole house was filled with smoke. I hurried ahead of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and informed: O Abu Saif! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is coming. So he stopped. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called for the child, embraced him, and said whatever Allah willed. The narrator states: After that, I saw that the child was taking his last breaths in front of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and tears were flowing from the eyes of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He said: Tears are flowing from the eyes, the heart is grieved, and we say only that which pleases our Lord. And O Ibrahim! We are grieved because of you."
