Patience and Reward for Illness and Afflictions - What is required of one to accept Allah's decree
Hadith 2892
أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ كَثِيرِ بْنِ أَفْلَحَ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدٍ سَنُوطَا ، عَنْ خَوْلَةَ بِنْتِ قَيْسٍ ، قَالَتْ : أَتَانَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ طَعَامًا ، فَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ فِيهِ ، فَوَجَدَهُ حَارًّا ، فَقَالَ : " حَسِّ " ، وَقَالَ : " ابْنُ آدَمَ إِنَّ أَصَابَهُ بَرْدٌ قَالَ : حَسِّ ، وَإِنَّ أَصَابَهُ حَرٌّ قَالَ : حَسِّ " . ثُمَّ تَذَاكَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَحَمْزَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ الدُّنْيَا ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الدُّنْيَا خَضِرَةٌ حُلْوَةٌ ، فَمَنْ أَخَذَهَا بِحَقِّهَا بُورِكَ لَهُ فِيهَا ، وَرُبَّ مُتَخَوِّضٍ فِيمَا شَاءَتْ نَفْسُهُ فِي مَالِ اللَّهِ وَمَالِ رَسُولِهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، لَهُ النَّارُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " .
Sayyida Khawla bint Qais (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) came to our house. I presented food to him. He placed his blessed hand in it and felt it was hot, so he said: "Jiss" (i.e., 'Ouch'). He said: If the son of Adam feels cold, he says: "Jiss" (i.e., 'Ouch'), and if he feels heat, he says: "Hiss" (i.e., 'Ouch'). Then the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and Sayyiduna Hamza bin Abdul Muttalib began to discuss the world, so the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The world is lush and sweet; whoever acquires it along with its due right, there will be blessing in it for him. And there are many people who seek the wealth of Allah and His Messenger, but for them, on the Day of Resurrection, there will be Hell.
