Fear Prayer - Permission to delay prayer when engaged in combat
Hadith 2891
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي أُنَيْسَةَ ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ زِرِّ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ يَوْمَ الْخَنْدَقِ : " شَغَلُونَا عَنِ صَلاةِ الْعَصْرِ ، مَلأَ اللَّهُ قُبُورَهُمْ وَبُيُوتَهُمْ نَارًا " ، قَالَ : وَلَمْ يُصَلِّهَا يَوْمَئِذٍ حَتَّى غَابَتِ الشَّمْسُ .
Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: On the occasion of the Battle of the Trench, I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "These people did not let us perform the Asr prayer. May Allah fill their graves and homes with fire." The narrator states that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was not able to perform that prayer until the sun had set that day.
