Abdur Rahman bin Abu Sa’id Khudri narrates from his father (Sayyiduna Abu Sa’id Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him). On the occasion of the Battle of Khandaq, we were engaged (in fighting) until the time after Maghrib had passed. This was before the command regarding fighting was revealed. When our sufficiency regarding the battle was achieved (this refers to the statement of Allah, the Exalted): "In battle, Allah was sufficient for the believers. Allah is Powerful and Dominant." (After Maghrib had passed) the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him), and he gave the Iqamah for Zuhr, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed this prayer just as he would perform it at its (prescribed) time. Then he gave the Iqamah for Asr, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed this prayer just as he would perform it at its (prescribed) time. Then he gave the Iqamah for Maghrib, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed this prayer just as he would perform it at its (prescribed) time.
