Hadith 2889
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that on the occasion of the Battle of Khandaq, Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)! I have not yet performed the Asr prayer, until the sun has set. This was after the time when those who fast have broken their fast. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: By Allah! We too have not yet performed this prayer. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stopped at the place of Bathan and I was with him. He performed ablution, and after the sun had set and after the time when those who fast have broken their fast, he performed the Asr prayer.
