Hadith 2883
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ فَرُّوخٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ قَيْسٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : قَاتَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، مُحَارِبَ خَصَفَةَ بِنَخْلٍ ، فَرَأَوْا مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ غُرَّةً ، فَجَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْهُمْ ، يُقَالُ لَهُ : عَوْفُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، أَوْ غَوْرَثُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، حَتَّى قَامَ عَلَى رَأْسِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، بِالسَّيْفِ ، فَقَالَ : مَنْ يَمْنَعُكَ مِنِّي ؟ قَالَ : " اللَّهُ " ، قَالَ : فَسَقَطَ السَّيْفُ مِنْ يَدِهِ ، فَأَخَذَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ السَّيْفَ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ : " مَنْ يَمْنَعُكَ مِنِّي " ، قَالَ : كُنَّ خَيْرًا مِنِّي ، قَالَ : " تَشَهَّدُ أَنْ لا إِلَهَ إِلا اللَّهُ ؟ " قَالَ : لا ، وَلَكِنْ أُعَاهِدُكَ عَلَى أَنْ لا أُقَاتِلَكَ وَلا أَكُونَ مَعَ قَوْمٍ يُقَاتِلُونَكَ ، قَالَ : فَخَلَّى سَبِيلَهُ ، فَجَاءَ إِلَى أَصْحَابِهِ ، فَقَالَ : جِئْتُكُمْ مِنْ عِنْدِ خَيْرِ النَّاسِ ، فَلَمَّا كَانَ عِنْدَ الظُّهْرِ أَوِ الْعَصْرِ ، شَكَّ أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، أَمَرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، بِصَلاةِ الْخَوْفِ قَالَ : فَكَانَ النَّاسُ طَائِفَتَيْنِ : طَائِفَةً بِإِزَاءِ الْعَدُوِّ ، وَطَائِفَةً يُصَلُّونَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَصَلَّى بِالطَّائِفَةِ الَّذِينَ مَعَهُ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ، ثُمَّ انْصَرَفُوا ، فَكَانُوا مَكَانَ أُولَئِكَ ، وَجَاءَ أُولَئِكَ فَصَلَّوْا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، رَكْعَتَيْنِ ، فَكَانَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَرْبَعُ رَكَعَاتٍ وَلِلْقَوْمِ رَكْعَتَانِ .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with both of them) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was at the place of Nakhl in the "Mihrab Khasfah" when a battle took place. When those people saw the Muslims unaware, a man from among them came whose name was Auf bin Harith, or perhaps Ghawrath bin Harith. He came with a sword and stood by the head of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and asked: Who will protect you from me? The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) replied: Allah, the Exalted. The narrator says: The sword fell from his hand. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) picked up the sword and asked: Who will protect you from me? He said: You will become better than me. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Do you bear witness that there is no deity except Allah? He said: No, but I promise you that I will not fight against you, nor will I be with any people who fight against you. The narrator says: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) let him go. He went back to his companions and said: I have come to you from the best of all people. When the time for Zuhr, or perhaps Asr, came—this doubt is from the narrator Abu Awanah—the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) ordered the prayer of fear (Salat al-Khawf). The narrator states: The people formed two groups; one group faced the enemy, and the other group began to pray with the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) led the group with him in two rak‘ahs, then they finished their prayer and moved to the place of the other group, and those people came and began to pray behind the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). They performed two rak‘ahs, thus the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) completed four rak‘ahs, and each of those groups performed two rak‘ahs.
