Fear Prayer - The place where the Prophet (peace be upon him) performed the fear prayer
Hadith 2875
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَيَّاشٍ الزُّرَقِيِّ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِعُسْفَانَ ، وَالْمُشْرِكُونَ بِضُجْنَانَ ، فَلَمَّا صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الظُّهْرَ رَآهُ الْمُشْرِكُونَ يَرْكَعُ وَيَسْجُدُ ، فَأْتَمَرُوا عَلَى أَنْ يُغِيرُوا عَلَيْهِ ، فَلَمَّا حَضَرَتِ الْعَصْرُ صَفَّ النَّاسُ خَلْفَهُ صَفَّيْنِ ، فَكَبَّرَ وَكَبَّرُوا جَمِيعًا ، وَرَكَعَ وَرَكَعُوا جَمِيعًا ، وَسَجَدَ وَسَجَدَ الصَّفُّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُ ، وَقَامَ الصَّفُّ الثَّانِي بِسِلاحِهِمْ مُقْبِلِينَ عَلَى الْعَدُوِّ بِوُجُوهِهِمْ ، فَلَمَّا رَفَعَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأْسَهُ ، سَجَدَ الصَّفُّ الثَّانِي فَلَمَّا رَفَعُوا رُؤوسَهُمْ رَكَعَ وَرَكَعُوا جَمِيعًا ، وَسَجَدَ وَسَجَدَ الصَّفُّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُ ، وَقَامَ الصَّفُّ الثَّانِي بِسِلاحِهِمْ مُقْبِلِينَ عَلَى الْعَدُوِّ بِوُجُوهِهِمْ ، فَلَمَّا رَفَعَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، رَأْسَهُ سَجَدَ الصَّفُّ الثَّانِي " ، قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ : أَبُو عَيَّاشٍ الزُّرَقِيُّ اخْتُلِفَ فِي اسْمِهِ ، مِنْهُمْ مَنْ قَالَ : إِنَّهُ زَيْدُ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ ، وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ قَالَ : إِنَّهُ زَيْدُ بْنُ الصَّامِتِ ، وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ قَالَ : عُبَيْدُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ ، وَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ : عُبَيْدُ بْنُ مُعَاذِ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ .
Sayyiduna Abu Ayyash Zurqi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was present at the place of Usfan, while the polytheists were at the place of Dajnan. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the Zuhr prayer, the polytheists saw him bowing and prostrating, so they consulted among themselves that they would attack him. When the time for the Asr prayer came, the people formed two rows behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said the takbir, and all the people also said the takbir. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) bowed, and all the people bowed. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went into prostration, so the row that was standing close to him went into prostration, while the other row, holding their weapons, stood facing the enemy. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his head, the second row also performed prostration. When they raised their heads, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) bowed, and all the people bowed. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prostrated, so the row that was standing close to him prostrated, while the other row, holding their weapons, stood facing the enemy. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his head, the second row also performed prostration.
(Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) There is a difference of opinion regarding the name of the narrator Abu Ayyash Zurqi. Some have said that his name is Zayd bin Nu’man, and some have said that it is Zayd bin Samit. Some have said it is Ubayd bin Mu’awiyah bin Samit, while others have said it is Ubayd bin Mu’adh bin Samit.
(Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) There is a difference of opinion regarding the name of the narrator Abu Ayyash Zurqi. Some have said that his name is Zayd bin Nu’man, and some have said that it is Zayd bin Samit. Some have said it is Ubayd bin Mu’awiyah bin Samit, while others have said it is Ubayd bin Mu’adh bin Samit.
