Eclipse Prayer - A narration that led some scholars to think eclipse prayer is like other prayers
Hadith 2837
أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّاجِرُ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ بِمَرْوَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْكَرِيمِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ السُّكَّرِيُّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا النَّضْرُ بْنُ شُمَيْلٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا أَشْعَثُ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَنَّهُ صَلَّى فِي كُسُوفِ الشَّمْسِ وَالْقَمَرِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ مِثْلَ صَلاتِكُمْ " ، قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ : قَوْلُ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ : " رَكْعَتَيْنِ مِثْلَ صَلاتِكُمْ " ، أَرَادَ بِهِ مِثْلَ صَلاتِكُمْ فِي الْكُسُوفِ .
Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) performed two rak‘ahs in the prayer of the solar and lunar eclipse, which were like your prayer. (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah’s (may Allah be pleased with him) statement that “two rak‘ahs like your prayer” means, as you people perform the eclipse prayer.
