Friday Prayer - Permission for the imam to attend to people's needs after descending the pulpit before starting the prayer
Hadith 2805
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هُدْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، وَشَيْبَانُ ، قَالا : حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنِ أنَسٍ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَنْزِلُ مِنَ الْمِنْبَرِ ، فَتُقَامُ الصَّلاةُ ، فَيَجِيءُ إِنْسَانٌ ، فَيُكَلِّمُهُ فِي حَاجَةٍ ، فَيَقُومُ مَعَهُ حَتَّى يَقْضِيَ حَاجَتَهُ ، ثُمَّ يَتَقَدَّمُ فَيُصَلِّي " .
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) descended from the pulpit after the iqamah for prayer had been pronounced. A man came and began to speak with him regarding some of his needs. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood with him until the man had fulfilled his need, then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) advanced and led the prayer.
