Chapter on Friday Prayer - Description of the sermon given when needed
Hadith 2801
أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْعَطَّارُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي سِمَاكُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ ، كَيْفَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ ؟ قَالَ : " كَانَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَخْطُبُ ، ثُمَّ يَقْعُدُ قَعْدَةً ، ثُمَّ يَقُومُ فَيَخْطُبُ " .
Simak bin Harb narrates: I asked Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) how the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to deliver the sermon. He replied: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would first deliver a sermon, then he would sit for a while. Then he would stand up and deliver the sermon again.
