Chapter on Friday Prayer - Description of Allah sealing the heart of one who neglects Friday prayer as described
Hadith 2787
أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ بْنِ وَرْدَانَ بِالْفُسْطَاطِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا اللَّيْثُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلانَ ، عَنِ الْقَعْقَاعِ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِنَّ الْعَبْدَ إِذَا أَخْطَأَ خَطِيئَةً نُكِتَ فِي قَلْبِهِ نُكْتَةٌ ، فَإِنْ هُوَ نَزَعَ وَاسْتَغْفَرَ وَتَابَ ، صُقِلَتْ ، فَإِنْ عَادَ زِيدَ فِيهَا ، وَإِنْ عَادَ زِيدَ فِيهَا حَتَّى تَعْلُوَ فِيهِ ، فَهُوَ الرَّانُ الَّذِي ذَكَرَ اللَّهُ جَلَّ وَعَلا : كَلا بَلْ رَانَ عَلَى قُلُوبِهِمْ مَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ سورة المطففين آية 14 " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates this statement of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him: "When a servant commits a mistake, a dot is placed upon his heart. If he separates himself from it, seeks forgiveness, and repents, then that dot is cleansed. However, if he repeats the same mistake, then it increases. If he commits the mistake again, then it increases further, until (that darkness) overcomes his heart. This is the rust which Allah, the Exalted, has mentioned: 'Rather, a rust has covered their hearts because of what they used to earn.'"
Hadith 2788
أَخْبَرَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى بْنِ مُجَاشِعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ هَمَّامٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، حَدَّثَنِي قُدَامَةُ بْنُ وَبَرَةَ ، رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي عُجَيْفٍ ، عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَنْ فَاتَتْهُ الْجُمُعَةُ ، فَلْيَتَصَدَّقْ بِدِينَارٍ ، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ ، فَبِنِصْفِ دِينَارٍ " .
Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever misses Jumu'ah should give one dinar in charity, and if he cannot afford it, then he should give half a dinar."
