Chapter on Friday Prayer - Instruction to regularly attend Friday prayers out of fear of being written among the heedless
Hadith 2785
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ الدَّسْتُوَائِيُّ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلامٍ ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ مِينَاءَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنَّهُمَا شَهِدَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ : " لَيَنْتَهِيَنَّ قَوْمٌ عَنْ وَدْعِهِمُ الْجُمُعَاتِ ، أَوْ لَيَخْتِمَنَّ اللَّهُ عَلَى قُلُوبِهِمْ ، وَلَيَكُونُنَّ مِنَ الْغَافِلِينَ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) bear witness regarding the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and state that he said this from the pulpit: "Either the people will refrain from abandoning the Friday (prayer), or Allah Almighty will set a seal upon their hearts and they will become among the heedless."
