Section on Prayer During Travel - Mention of a narration that may seem to the untrained that one intending to stay ten days in a town may shorten prayer
Hadith 2754
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْجُنَيْدِ إِمْلاءً ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : " خَرَجْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ إِلَى مَكَّةَ ، فَلَمْ يَزَلْ يَقْصُرُ حَتَّى رَجَعَ ، وَأَقَامَ بِهَا عَشْرًا " .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I set out from Madinah Munawwarah to Makkah Mukarramah with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) continued to perform shortened prayers until he returned. He stayed there (i.e., in Makkah Mukarramah) for ten days.
