Section on Prayer During Travel - Narration indicating that this practice is permitted for those who intend a journey where shortening is allowed
Hadith 2746
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْجُنَيْدِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ مُضَرَ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : " صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الظُّهْرَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ أَرْبَعَ رَكَعَاتٍ ، ثُمَّ خَرَجَ إِلَى بَعْضِ أَسْفَارِهِ فَصَلَّى لَنَا عِنْدَ الشَّجَرَةِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ " .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I performed four rak'ahs of Zuhr in Madinah Munawwarah behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), then he set out on a journey, and near Shajarah he led us in two rak'ahs.
