Sayyiduna Imam Ja'far Sadiq (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from his father (Imam Muhammad Baqir, may Allah be pleased with him) the statement of Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him): In the year of the conquest of Makkah, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) set out towards Makkah in the month of Ramadan. When he reached the place of "Kara' al-Ghim," the narrator states: The people were fasting, some were walking, and some were riding. It was submitted to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Fasting is causing hardship for the people, and they are waiting to see what you will do. So the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for a bowl, raised it towards his mouth until the people saw it, and then he drank from it. After that, some people broke their fast, while others remained fasting. It was submitted to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Some people are still fasting. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Those people are disobedient. Among the companions of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), those who were walking gathered together. They said: We are seeking the supplications of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), while the journey has become intense and the hardship prolonged. So the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Seek help by walking quickly, for it cuts off the marks of the earth; this will be easier for you. The narrator says: We did so, and it became easier for us.
