Chapter on the Traveler - Warning against sleeping on the roadside
Hadith 2705
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأَزْدِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِذَا سَافَرْتُمْ فِي الْخِصْبِ فَأَعْطُوا الإِبِلَ حَقَّهَا ، وَإِذَا سَافَرْتُمْ فِي السَّنَةِ فَأَسْرِعُوا السَّيْرَ ، وَإِذَا عَرَّسْتُمْ بِاللَّيْلِ فَاجْتَنِبُوا الطَّرِيقَ ، فَإِنَّهَا مَأْوَى الْهَوَامِّ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him): "When you travel through lush areas, give the camels their due (i.e., allow them to graze). When you travel through barren places, travel quickly, and when you camp at night, avoid camping on the road, for it is the dwelling place of the creatures of the earth."
