Chapter on Making Up Missed Prayers - Narration indicating that what was described is a virtue for those who wish, not an obligation to repeat missed prayers twice

Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We were traveling with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) during a military expedition. When the last part of the night came, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) camped. He did not wake up until the heat of the sun woke us up. Everyone stood up in a state of panic and worry. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Mount your rides. Then he mounted, and we also mounted. He traveled for a while, and when the sun had risen high, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) dismounted. He ordered Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him), and he gave the call to prayer (adhan). The people fulfilled their needs and performed ablution. They offered two units (rak‘ahs) of (Sunnah) prayer. Then Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) gave the iqamah. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) led us in prayer. We said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), should we not make up this prayer at its time tomorrow? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Your Lord has forbidden you from usury, so would He Himself accept it?
