Section on Night Prayer - Mention of the Prophet (peace be upon him) maintaining equal standing in the units of his night prayer
Hadith 2627
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ السَّامِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ طَاوُسٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ بْنِ خَالِدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنَّهُ بَاتَ عِنْدَ خَالَتِهِ مَيْمُونَةَ ، " فَقَامَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ " ، قَالَ : " فَقُمْتُ فَتَوَضَّأْتُ ، ثُمَّ قُمْتُ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ ، فَجَرَّنِي حَتَّى أَقَامَنِي عَنْ يَمِينِهِ ، ثُمَّ صَلَّى ثَلاثَ عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً ، قِيَامُهُ فِيهِنَّ سَوَاءٌ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: He spent the night at the house of his maternal aunt, Sayyida Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her). The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) stood up at night to perform prayer. Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) states: I got up, performed ablution, and came to stand on his left side. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) pulled me and made me stand on his right side. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) performed thirteen rak‘ahs, in which his standing was equal.
