Hadith 2617
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا حُمَيْدٌ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : " مَا كُنَّا نَشَاءُ أَنْ نَرَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ مُصَلِّيًا إِلا رَأَيْنَاهُ مُصَلِّيًا ، وَمَا كُنَّا نَشَاءُ نَرَاهُ نَائِمًا مِنَ اللَّيْلِ إِلا رَأَيْنَاهُ نَائِمًا " .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: If we wished to see the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) performing voluntary prayers at night, we would see him performing them, and if we wished to see him sleeping at night, we would see him sleeping as well.
