Section on Night Prayer - Mention of the duration the Prophet (peace be upon him) spent in prostration during night prayer
Hadith 2610
أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ الْغُضَائِرِيُّ ، بِحَلَبَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ شُجَاعٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُبَشِّرُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، عَنِ الأَوْزَاعِيِّ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَمْكُثُ فِي سُجُودِهِ قَدْرَ مَا يَقْرَأُ الرَّجُلُ خَمْسِينَ آيَةً " ، تُرِيدُ فِي صَلاةِ اللَّيْلِ .
Lady Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) would remain in prostration for as long as it takes a person to recite fifty verses. The narrator states: Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) meant that he used to do this in the voluntary night prayer.
