Section on night prayer – clarification that prayer at the end and middle of the night is better than at the beginning
Hadith 2564
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حِبَّانُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَوْفٌ ، عَنِ الْمُهَاجِرِ أَبِي مَخْلَدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ أَبَا ذَرٍّ : أَيُّ قِيَامِ اللَّيْلِ أَفْضَلُ ؟ قَالَ أَبُو ذَرٍّ : سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَمَا سَأَلْتَنِي ، فَقَالَ : " نِصْفُ اللَّيْلِ ، أَوْ جَوْفُ اللَّيْلِ " شَكَّ عَوْفٌ .
Abu Muslim narrates: I asked Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) which night prayer is the best, so Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) the same question that you have asked me, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "At the middle of the night, or perhaps in the middle part of the night." This doubt is from ‘Awf.
