Section on night prayer – mentioning the obligation of entering Paradise for one who stands in the darkness of night seeking his Lord
Hadith 2559
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأَزْدِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ الْعَقَدِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي مَيْمُونَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنِّي إِذَا رَأَيْتُكَ طَابَتْ نَفْسِي ، وَقَرَّتْ عَيْنِي ، أَنْبِئْنِي عَنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ ، قَالَ: " كُلُّ شَيْءٍ خُلِقَ مِنَ الْمَاءِ " . فَقُلْتُ: فَقُلْتُ: أَخْبِرْنِي بِشَيْءٍ إِذَا عَمِلْتُ بِهِ دَخَلْتُ الْجَنَّةَ ، قَالَ: " أَطْعِمِ الطَّعَامَ ، وَأَفْشِ السَّلامَ ، وَصِلِ الأَرْحَامَ ، وَقُمْ بِاللَّيْلِ وَالنَّاسُ نِيَامٌ ، تَدْخُلِ الْجَنَّةَ بِسَلامٍ " ، قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ: قَوْلُ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ: أَنْبِئْنِي عَنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ ، أَرَادَ بِهِ عَنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ خُلِقَ مِنَ الْمَاءِ ، وَالدَّلِيلُ عَلَى صِحَّةِ هَذَا جَوَابُ الْمُصْطَفَى إِيَّاهُ ، حَيْثُ قَالَ: " كُلُّ شَيْءٍ خُلِقَ مِنَ الْمَاءِ " ، فَهَذَا جَوَابٌ خَرَجَ عَلَى سُؤَالٍ بِعَيْنِهِ ، لا أَنَّ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ خُلِقَ مِنَ الْمَاءِ وَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مَخْلُوقًا .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates: I said, "O Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him! When I see you, my soul becomes purified and my eyes are cooled. Please tell me about everything." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Everything was created from water." I said, "Tell me about something, if I act upon it, I will enter Paradise." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Feed others, spread the greeting of peace, maintain the ties of kinship, and pray at night when people are sleeping; you will enter Paradise in peace." (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The statement of Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, "Tell me about everything," means he intended to ask about everything that was created from water. And the evidence for this being correct is the answer given by the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that he said: "Everything was created from water." So this answer was given exactly in accordance with the question. It does not mean that everything was created from water, even if it is not a created being.
