Hadith 2550
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الأَعْلَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ الْقُمِّيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ جَارِيَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَابِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ أُبَيُّ بْنُ كَعْبٍ إِلَى إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّهُ كَانَ مِنِّي اللَّيْلَةَ شَيْءٌ يَعْنِي فِي رَمَضَانَ ، قَالَ : " وَمَا ذَاكَ يَا أُبَيُّ ؟ " قَالَ : نِسْوَةٌ فِي دَارِي قُلْنَ : إِنَّا لا نَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ ، فَنُصَلِّي بِصَلاتِكَ ، قَالَ : فَصَلَّيْتُ بِهِنَّ ثَمَانِيَ رَكَعَاتٍ ، ثُمَّ أَوْتَرْتُ ، قَالَ : فَكَانَ شِبْهُ الرِّضَا ، وَلَمْ يَقُلْ شَيْئًا .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He submitted: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Last night I faced some difficulty, that is, regarding Ramadan. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: O Ubayy! What was it? He replied: The women of my household said: We cannot recite the Qur'an, so we will follow your prayer. Sayyiduna Ubayy said: I led those women in eight rak'ahs of prayer, then I performed witr. (Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates) So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) seemed to express approval, however, he said something to him: No.
