Hadith 2549
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الأَعْلَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ النَّرْسِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ الْقُمِّيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ جَارِيَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا جَابِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ أُبَيُّ بْنُ كَعْبٍ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، كَانَ مِنِّي اللَّيْلَةَ شَيْءٌ فِي رَمَضَانَ ، قَالَ : " وَمَا ذَاكَ يَا أُبَيُّ ؟ " قَالَ : نِسْوَةٌ فِي دَارِي قُلْنَ : إِنَّا لا نَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ ، فَنُصَلِّي بِصَلاتِكَ ، قَالَ : فَصَلَّيْتُ بِهِنَّ ثَمَانِيَ رَكَعَاتٍ ، ثُمَّ أَوْتَرْتُ ، قَالَ : فَكَانَ شِبْهُ الرِّضَا ، وَلَمْ يَقُلْ شَيْئًا .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He said: O Messenger of Allah! Last night I faced some difficulty regarding Ramadan. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: What was it, O Ubayy? He said: There were some women in our house. They said: We cannot recite the Qur'an, so we follow your prayer. The narrator says: I led them in eight rak'ahs and then I performed witr. (Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates) The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) seemed to express approval; he did not say anything to him: No.
