Section on Tarawih prayer – mentioning a report confirming the interpretation of the previous statement
Hadith 2548
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأَزْدِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : ذَكَرْنَا لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " كَمْ مَضَى مِنَ الشَّهْرِ ؟ " فَقُلْنَا : مَضَى اثْنَانِ وَعِشْرُونَ يَوْمًا ، وَبَقِيَ ثَمَانٌ ، فَقَالَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لا ، بَلْ مَضَى اثْنَانِ وَعِشْرُونَ يَوْمًا ، وَبَقِيَ سَبْعٌ ، الشَّهْرُ تِسْعٌ وَعِشْرُونَ يَوْمًا ، فَالْتَمِسُوهَا اللَّيْلَةَ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We mentioned the Night of Qadr in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: How much of the month has passed? We replied: Twenty-two (22) days have passed and eight days remain. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No, rather twenty-two (22) days have passed and seven days remain; sometimes the month is of twenty-nine (29) days, so seek this night.
