Hadith 2546
أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو سلمة بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ لِرَمَضَانَ : " مَنْ قَامَهُ إِيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ " قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ : الاحْتِسَابُ : قَصْدُ الْعَبِيدِ إِلَى بَارِئِهِمْ بِالطَّاعَةِ رَجَاءَ الْقَبُولِ .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) saying regarding Ramadan: "Whoever performs voluntary acts (nawafil) in it with faith and seeking reward, his past sins will be forgiven." (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The meaning of 'ihtisab' is that the servant, along with obedience, intends to present himself before his Lord, hoping for its acceptance.
