Section on Duha prayer – mentioning the greatest reward for one who follows the morning prayer with two rak’ahs of Duha
Hadith 2535
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَاتِمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ صَخْرٍ ، عَنِ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعْثًا فَأَعْظَمُوا الْغَنِيمَةَ وَأَسْرَعُوا الْكَرَّةَ ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، مَا رَأَيْنَا بَعْثَ قَوْمٍ أَسْرَعَ كَرَّةً ، وَلا أَعْظَمَ غَنِيمَةً ، مِنْ هَذَا الْبَعْثِ ، فَقَالَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَلا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِأَسْرَعَ كَرَّةً وَأَعْظَمَ غَنِيمَةً مِنْ هَذَا الْبَعْثِ ؟ رَجُلٌ تَوَضَّأَ فِي بَيْتِهِ فَأَحْسَنَ وُضُوءَهُ ، ثُمَّ تَحَمَّلَ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ ، فَصَلَّى فِيهِ الْغَدَاةَ ، ثُمَّ عَقَّبَ بِصَلاةِ الضُّحَى ، فَقَدْ أَسْرَعَ الْكَرَّةَ ، وَأَعْظَمَ الْغَنِيمَةَ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) sent out an expedition. They obtained a great amount of spoils of war and returned quickly. A man said: O Messenger of Allah! I have never seen any expedition return so quickly and receive as much booty as this expedition has received. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Shall I not tell you of something by which you can return even more quickly and obtain even more spoils? A person performs ablution well at home, then goes to the mosque and offers the morning prayer, then (remains seated there and then) offers the forenoon (Duha) prayer; such a person returns quickly and obtains even more spoils.
