Section on prayer on a riding animal – clarification that the two prostrations for one praying voluntarily on his mount should be lower than the bowing
Hadith 2523
أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ خُزَيْمَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْمِقْدَامِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرًا يَقُولُ : " رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ يُصَلِّي النَّوَافِلَ فِي كُلِّ وَجْهٍ ، وَلَكِنَّهُ يَخْفِضُ السَّجْدَتَيْنِ مِنَ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ يُومِئُ إِيمَاءً " .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) performing prayer on his mount. He was offering voluntary prayers, regardless of which direction he was facing. However, while prostrating, he would bend lower than he did in bowing. He was performing bowing and prostration by gestures.
