Section on prayer on a riding animal – mentioning permission for a traveler to pray voluntary prayers on his mount even if the qiblah is behind him
Hadith 2520
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سُرَاقَةَ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي عَلَى رَاحِلَةٍ نَحْوَ الْمَشْرِقِ فِي غَزْوَةِ أَنْمَارٍ " .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with both of them) narrates: I saw the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) performing prayer on his mount facing towards the east during the expedition of Anmar.
